Somewhere in Southern California involving leopard, fake fur, co-dependent band members and the beach, there is a blonde who makes music. Singer and songwriter, Lisa Monroe’s love of melody is apparent in songs that combine lush layers and pop hooks, some with electronic beats. Growing up in a musical family in So Cal Lisa's approach to writing is pretty effortless, but as a producer when recording, she admits she can be a bit obsessive.
Assembling her first band from local music ads while acting on a soap opera, Lisa's work has earned favorable reviews in magazines like Buzz, “We like that kind of confident attitude – especially when it’s backed up by good musicianship, deep, intelligent lyrics, and songs that are simultaneously retro and contemporary”.
Lisa has collaborated on projects with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and an emerging hip hop artist, among others.
Having played extensive live shows, including the El Rey in Los Angeles, Lisa is currently working on new material as a follow-up to her self-produced solo EP HEART GOES BOOM, set for release soon. Her songs have been featured and are in rotation on multiple internet radio stations around the world. Lisa is based in Los Angeles.
"HAPPY NOW"
"Happy Now" is one of my favorite songs to sing and perform. I wrote it on guitar instead of piano and probably went a bit crazy with all the guitar parts!
The lyrics are about relationships and how hard it is not to lose yourself in the other person or the idea of love. Most everything I write comes from personal experience so the last line says it all..."I got lost and confused melting into you".
